qualified neutral/alternative dispute resolution
SERVICES

Dr. Mooney completed her training to become a Qualified Neutral and provide Alternative Dispute Resolution Services in MN in June of 2020. As a result of this Training, Dr. Mooney is now able to provide Family Mediation, Custody Evaluations, Parenting Time Expeditor and Parenting Consultant Services at Storybook Wellness Center. family mediation
services

Dr. Mooney has been working with families providing family therapy–helping to work through conflicts and improve relationships for many years. Dr. Mooney is excited to add Family Mediation to the services she can provide at Storybook Wellness. Families who are struggling to resolve conflict for a variety of reasons can seek out mediation as a way to try and resolve these difficulties. Reasons for Family Mediation may include but are not limited to: divorce, child custody, estate conflicts, elder care conflicts, parenting conflict, or conflict in family business. A deposit is required prior to scheduling service. For more information on cost and structure of mediation services please contact Storybook Wellness.

Custody evaluation
services

Dr. Mooney can now also provide Court Ordered Custody Evaluations as part of her services at Storybook Wellness. Minnesota statute 518.167 Subdivision 1 provides that: “In contested custody proceedings . . . the court may order an investigation and report concerning custodial arrangements for the child.” This is referred to as a “Custody Evaluation.” Custody Evaluations can take several months to complete. Upon completion of the investigation, Dr. Mooney will complete a report which addresses all of the “best interest” factors set forth in Statute 518.167, with detailed analyses, followed by her custody and parenting time recommendations. A deposit is required before service begins. For more information regarding the process and costs of Custody Evaluations please contact Storybook Wellness.

parenting time expeditor (PTE)
services

Dr. Mooney can now also provide services as a Parenting Time Expeditor. Parenting Time Expeditors are Neutral Evaluators appointed by the court upon request of either party, the parties’ stipulation, or upon the court’s own motion. MN Statute 518. 1751 Subdivision 1b states: “The purpose of a parenting time expeditor is to resolve parenting time disputes by enforcing, interpreting, clarifying, and addressing circumstances not specifically addressed by an existing parenting time order and, if appropriate, to make a determination as to whether the existing parenting time order has been violated. A parenting time expeditor may be appointed to resolve a one time parenting time dispute or to provide ongoing parenting time dispute resolution services. A deposit is required before service begins. For more information regarding the process and costs of PTE services please contact Storybook Wellness.

parenting consultant (pc)
services

Dr. Mooney also provides services as a Parenting Consultant. Parenting Consultants are Neutrals appointed by the court–only upon joint request of both parties. The role of parenting consultant is not recognized by state statute, but rather, in Minnesota Court Rule 114.02(a)(10). According to this rule, “parties may by agreement create an ADR [alternative dispute resolution] process.” Parenting Consultants often play a key role in post-decree issues. In such matters, their chief goal is to prevent already divorced spouses from returning to court, especially if multiple conflicts crop up over time. In Minnesota, Parenting Consultants essentially serve in lieu of a judge. They can make binding decisions in a wide range of parenting disputes. Additionally, they serve as an excellent resource for parents who, due to changing work or life circumstances, require adjustments to previously agreed-upon parenting time arrangements. A deposit is required before service begins. For more information regarding the process and costs of PC Services please contact Storybook Wellness.
